Devotees i.e. Members of the Gunatit Samaj should endeavour to sustain cleanliness and good health. The place of inhabitance should be kept clean from the inside as well as outside. Every care should be taken to avoid any infestation of flies, mites, locusts, mosquitoes, mice, rats and cockroaches etc. If it is deemed necessary to destroy such infectious and disease causing infestations in order to maintain a clean, healthy habitable environment then one should not hesitate to do so.
Do not consume alcohol or eat meat. Do not steal, commit adultery or gamble. A devotee should always abide by these five sacred vows known as the ‘panch-vartman’. Devotees should also avoid substances which lead to addiction such as tobacco, alcoholic drinks and drugs.
In order to maintain cleanliness and good health, devotees should refrain from consuming food or drinks sold in shops or stalls under dubious conditions. They should also abstain from eating and drinking anything at anyone’s home, if there is any doubt as to whether or not cleanliness has been observed in its preparation.
It is important to be certain that any water or milk consumed has been thoroughly processed. If necessary, ensure that it is filtered before consumption.
Clean water should be used for bathing.
We should endeavour to maintain cleanliness and keep tidy not only our homes but also those places such as temples, lake sides, farms, gardens etc. which our samaj has identified as holy places. We should not pollute such places or defile them in any way, i.e. do not spit.
