Whom have we attained? by Pujya Sunilbhai Gandhi

0781v2

We only want to do one thing and that is to worship God.

We are all dedicated to Guruhari Pappaji Maharaj, however despite this, if we feel any degree of unhappiness or distress, then have we truly realised the manifest Lord? We shouldn’t feel any iota of discontentment or sadness, despondency or anxiety/stress in our lives and we shouldn’t have ill feelings towards others either. The fact that we do experience such emotions, demonstrates that there is something lacking in our conviction in the manifest swarup.

As Pappaji Maharaj has said that as those who soar the skies high above the earth, everything below becomes insignificant, in the same way, if we stay submerged in the Gunatit Swarup, then all worldly things and people’s shortcomings and faults would seem insignificant. If we are unhappy despite having Pappaji Maharaj in our lives, who has promised that He will do everything for us, then what is the point of being in this satsangand doing His bhakti? What is the point of being in the royal house-hold and yet still being unhappy?

Pappaji once told a story of a king who fell in love and married a vagrant woman, and had brought her to his palace to live as his queen, however soon after, she became unhappy and started to become emaciated. The king’s physician took on resolving the problem by putting little alcoves in the queen’s private quarters where food was to be left every day. As a vagabond, the queen was used to going around place to place in the outside world begging for food. So, the queen did as she always did and went around taking a little food from the alcoves as if like a beggar; she kept up this practice and in no time fully regained her health! When the king found out what the queen was doing he remonstrated that despite being a queen living in luxury in the palace, why should she behave like this?

In the same way, Pappaji says that when we have attained the supreme Lord, then why should we be worried or unhappy about anything? But unfortunately, we hold on to things that cause us distress and we do not appreciate that these things are insignificant once we have met God Himself in person. Pappaji’s message was always, “Whom is it that we have attained?” As Param Pujya Kakaji has said that we say that we have attained the brahm swarup, but do we truly believe it! This can only be answered by how much we remain in Gunatit bhav no matter what circumstances we face.

Pappaji Maharaj, even during difficult challenges in His sadhana and the various serious illnesses that He underwent was always cheerful and blissful; for Pappaji, everything was in Yogiji Maharaj’s hand and everything was by Bapa’s grace. As per Param na Pathik né Chapter 4, we should become incapable of feeling distress and instead remain constantly in a heavenly serene state.

Guruhari Pappaji has emphasised that He and the swarupo experience constant bliss, no matter what situation is faced and activity undertaken. In our mahapuja, there is a prayer that we should experience a fountain of joy. These are not just words, but this is something that we should experience here and now, not only in the afterlife – this is God realisation and this is Akshardham here today.

Therefore, may we always remain in this type of murti, that ‘whom have we attained?’, why should we worry about anything? May we always live in this type of Akshardham ni samadhi and experience His presence and bliss from within at every moment – He will do the rest.
