Chapter Five: Devotion to God

Swaroop-nishtha

A devotee with unparalleled, superior devotion to God will always turn towards God when faced with problems.

He will remain neutral, pray and wait with patience and then act as inspired by God.

A devotee with ordinary devotion to God will question God when faced with problems. He will ask:  “Lord, why have you burdened me with these problems?”  Whilst praying for a solution to his problems he will be filled with doubts as to whether or not God will really solve his problems.  Thus, he may resort to alternative methods of solving his problems.

The third type of devotee, an inferior devotee, is one who is quick to preach to others but should he be faced with problems, he will immediately turn to his own devices to find a solution.  He will be led by his own swabhav – his inner instincts and will follow these instead of turning to God for help.

We have been selected by Yogi Bapa and therefore each and every moment, anything that occurs is ordained by Him, in order to give us the opportunity to practice japyagna and smruti – until they become a natural habit.
