Chapter Two: True Worship

Sakar Upasana

  1. It pleases Maharaj – therefore we should:
  • Never doubt the existence of Maharaj.

He definitely exists.  Always accept that he is ever-present.  He is always present in the form of Gunatit Sant as per Vachnamrut G.III.26 and G.I.27.

  • Observe the principles of  ‘panchvartman’:

i. Ordinary principles:

                      Do not consume alcohol or meat, do not steal, do not commit adultery etc.

ii. Superior principles:

                      Nirmani   =  Ego-less

                      Nishkami =  Desire-less

                      Nirlobhi   =  un-avaricious

                      Nirswadi  =  Non-attached to taste

                      Nirsnéhi   =  Non-attached

  • Preach and practice spiritual friendship and unity.
  • Accept the Pratyaksh Swaroop and constantly remember Him.
  • Recognise the sambandh (relation to God) in each individual and experience joy.
  1. Remain sincere towards your guru (and nominated head) and serve Maharaj accordingly with Mahatmya.
  2. In order to appreciate the greatness of Maharaj, it is imperative to discard all forms of negative influences, be they negative thoughts from the mind, bad company or from literature. It is also essential to gain true guidance from your guru and follow all instructions without question or argument.
  3. In order to practice ‘bhakti’ (worship and devotion) according to the guru’s wishes, one must not be lazy, negligent or careless. Each and every moment must be utilised according to the wishes and principles of the Lord, in accordance with the jivan mantra.
  4. Form a natural habit of living each moment with ‘mahatmya’. Do whatever is necessary to help your peers (other sadhaks) to live according to this principle.
