A Health Awareness Programme for females was organized by Shree Gunatit Jyot Mahila Trust, Vallabh Vidyanagar on Saturday, 23rd March, 2019 at Gunatit Jyot, Borivali, Mumbai. In a world with an ageing population, the challenge is to prevent and manage the risk factors of today to ensure that they do not lead to the chronic health problems of tomorrow. One of the keys to improving women’s health is the removal of financial barriers to health care. Removing financial barriers to care must be accompanied by efforts to ensure that health services are appropriate, acceptable, of high quality and responsive to the needs of women.
Addressing women’s health is a necessary and effective approach to strengthening health systems overall – action that will benefit everyone. Improving women’s health matters to women, to their families, communities and societies at large. Thus, if we improve women’s health, we improve the world. In view of this, we decided to go for an awareness programme. 61 females participated in the above health programme and they registered themselves in advance. Registration was free but mandatory.
Dr. Menka Shah commenced her talk with a presentation giving a brief overview of common health problems in females namely, heart disease, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, cancer of cervix, gynecological problems, diseases of pregnancy, osteoporosis, arthritis and psychological disorders. Dr. Priti Patel, Gynecologist from Emery Hospital, Anand, delivered a talk on female health problems, to make the participants aware of the signs, symptoms, treatment and complications of menstrual disorders. The session continued with one to one interaction and further consultation. P. Vaibhaviben Modh with support of P. Bhartiben Modi, Head, Gunatit Jyot, Borivali made all the necessary arrangements for this programme.
All the participants were given Calcium and Vitamin D3 supplements for a month along with one bottle of ‘Fabric Roll On’ to prevent mosquito bites. The programme was appreciated by the audience and was a great success. The participants were very thankful to Shree Gunatit Jyot Mahila Trust, Vallabh Vidyanagar, for conducting this programme.
